Lynnette, thank you for adding the pictures of the ball teams. My dad had so many stories about playing back then. Short Wilson would always laugh when they would talk about those times, and tell dad he needed to slide more! Dad would always say I slid so much my backside was always torn up. Short would reply then you should have slid on your belly!

This is great, thank you for posting! That is what makes it so interesting to us, the real stories behind the pictures! Sounds just like Short!

Oh, the stories I could tell! I think my dad was a little on the wild side back in the day. Some of the stories I thought were a little far fetched, but after asking some people that knew him back then, I found that the stories were very much true. I love this site you've created Lynette! Keep up the great work. I might have some old photos that my grandmother Floy kept. She never throw any thing away.

I was fortunate enought to get to see several of the softball games during the mid 1950's because besides having a couple of uncles who played, my grandparents farm was just a little south of the old ball park on the east side of the road. I also had the honor of playing with several of those same guys years later when we were playing fastpitch softball here in Osceola. Mac McKinnie, Stanley Steele, Merril McCarty, Willard Allen, probablly someone else I have left off the list, but that was a long time ago. Those were good times, it would be fun to be able to visit with all those guys again. DD

That would have been so neat to be able to see those guys play, they were quite a team it sounded like. And even better to be able to play ball with them later, thanks for this great memory, Doyce!
